The Gifts That Keep's On Giving

Yesterday  I watched many individuals  scurry off to stores after eating dinner and spending time with their families.  Many stood in long lines to get what they believed to be the best deals of the Season.  Many were eager to be the first one in the store, and some stores even built up the momentum by passing out numbers to enter.

I am no scruge and as a matter of fact, that used to be me!  I used to save up money all year long, specifically for this day.  But a few years ago my life was altered and I found myself thinking long and hard about my gift giving choices.  I started to ponder and gradually researching some of the best gifts to give, that would have purpose and continue to give after the Holiday Season or special occassion was gone.

Every week  I will feature "Gifts With A Purpose" and maybe one day I will receive a post from you about your gift giving journey, as I continue mine.  So let's see what we have for today.

Meet Daeleon Brown-Williams and his amazing mom Tamara Washington of Waukesha, Wisconsin.  Tamara is a successful business owner  with an amazing husband in law enforcement, and a beautiful family.  Tamara has been in the travel and tourism industry for over 10 years in the capacity of Coaching stay at home moms and  individuals on the start up of their homebased, digital travel agency from home.  While she maintains her other business ventures and runs her own travel agency from home, she enjoys the flexibility as her travel business is allowing her to design a life that she envisions for her family.

One day while Tamara was hosting a private business reception at her home, her son Daeleon became very interested in finding out more about the business.  Tamara took him serious and began to assure he was more and more engaged in the business.    At the time Daeleon was too young to start his own business, but as soon as her turned 18 his mother did something that was awe inspiring to many.  She gifted her son his own travel agency!

With Daeleon headed off to college shortly, they knew it would be a great business to have where he could operate on his time schedule and right from his phone and dorm room.    College students travel takes them beyond Spring Break in Miami these days.   And many of them will hear other students talk about amazing places to visit, and they just do not want to chance it with an online website and limited customer service.  When his customers  discover they do not have to pay  an additional fee, to use him as their personal agent they are ready to go.  And for those who wants to book their own trips, they each get a free portal from Daeleon's travel agency where they can book travel independently and at their leisure while having access to Daeleon for any questions or concerns that may arise.

So if you are wondering  what to get that stay at home mom, the college student who shows an interest in a start up that fits around their schedule,  or maybe you have a passion for travel and adventure as a hobby,  starting a homebased travel business maybe the perfect gift that will keep on giving.    Connect with this amazing  mother and son team today by visiting their website to find out how you can give a gift of purpose for any occassion.   Click HERE.

This weekend I was honored at an event hosted by the Non-Profit organization Raising Our Daughters Foundation, based out of Illinois and founded by Shauna Weatherspoon. When I was called up to receive my award the audience was crying their eyes out, but then the host started singing Walk, Walk, Walk so I went right into a strutting motion and the audience began to laugh because without my knowledge, my granddaughter was behind me, repeating exactly what I did going to the microphone. My Granddaughter was right there as I spoke and listening attentively. I am usually very concious about how I treat others, how I speak to others, and how I leave others feeling. One area I have been challenged in, was how I treated myself, how I spoke to myself and how I left myself feeling. As an entrepreneur we find ourselves putting our needs and wants on the back burner. We must assure that in our business plan, the plan has time reserved for just us, to do exactly what we love to do, and to assure we are truly preparing a life where we can make a living, while living. Yes my grandaughter is watching, and so many others. How I choose to live this gift of a life called entreprenuership creates my lifestyle, and I want it to be one that I do not ever think about escaping from.
